As we continue to build on our mission of supporting libraries and librarianship in our region, the Greater Edmonton Library Association invites nominations for currently open leadership positions. Your participation helps shape our direction and ensures we remain responsive to the needs of our members and the broader library community.
Open Positions:
President (2 year term) – Provides overall leadership, represents the association externally and with written position statements, presides over meetings, and works with the board to set strategic priorities.
Vice-President (2 year term) – Assists the president, leads committees or other initiatives as assigned.
Program Coordinator (2 year term) – Plans and organizes member programs, workshops, and educational events throughout the year.
MacEwan University Representative (1 year term) – collects and reports trends and concerns among MacEwan University Library and Information Technology students and faculty, communicates GELA initiatives to the students and faculty, coordinates programs
University of Alberta Representative (1 year term) – collects and reports trends and concerns among University of Alberta Master of Library and Information Studies students and faculty, communicates GELA initiatives to the students and faculty, coordinates programs

These volunteer roles are essential to keeping our association vibrant, connected, and effective. Whether you’ve served in a leadership capacity before or are interested in contributing your skills for the first time, we encourage you to put your name forward!
