
GELA is looking for self-nominations for various Executive positions! We encourage all members and those interested in joining our community to consider nominating themselves for one of the available positions by March 25th, 2026.
Available roles include:
- President (April 2026 – June 2027 + a half-year term as Past President)
- Vice President (April 2026 – June 2027, moving into the President role in April 2027 – June 2028)
- Program Coordinator (April 2026 – June 2028)
- UAlberta SLIS Student Representative (x2) (April 2026 – April 2027)
- MacEwan LIT Student Representative (x2) (April 2026 – April 2027)
- Guest Library Reps (x6+) (April 2026 – April 2027) – New Position!

Being part of the GELA Executive is a remarkable opportunity to shape the future of our association, contribute to our community, and develop professionally. Students are welcome and encouraged to sign up for all roles, not just student representative positions. We are also looking for library and archive workers from across the greater Edmonton area to act as guest representatives. In this position, you shall be responsible for liaison between your colleagues and the Association, as well assist in coordinating events and activities. No matter which library workplace or system you work in, we wish to hear from you!
Nominees will be voted in at our Annual General Meeting on April 13, 2026.
All members of our Executive Team must have an active GELA membership for the duration of their term.
